As a not-for-profit organization, the St. Charles County Historical Society depends on the philanthropy of its members and friends to cover its expenses.  It has a very small staff consisting of an archivist and executive secretary, and many unpaid volunteers.  Nonetheless, the Society’s operating budget of around $80,000 per year requires an on-going commitment of financial resources by the public.  If you would like to contribute online please CLICK HERE.

The primary way to support the society is by Becoming a Member  and enjoying the benefits that membership provides.  However, there are many other ways to make a significant contribution as well, such as taking an active part in the Society’s yearly fund-raising activities such as the House Tour, Trivia Night and Festival of the Little Hills participation.  These events are fun, interesting and greatly beneficial to the Society.

One of the most impactful ways you can support the Society is through a bequest as part of an estate plan.  Some of the most meaningful contributions to the Society in the past have been through bequests of real estate property.  You can read more about this avenue of giving in the Planned Giving section of the website.  Please navigate to this section and find out how you can be of great benefit not only to this current generation of supporters but also for patrons of the future.  The Society will recognize your gift publicly, or if you so desire, your contribution can remain private.

The Society is able to receive gifts of nearly any type, be they stocks, bonds, or property.  There may be some tax incentives for you to donate certain types of property to the Society.  We are able to receive such gifts and translate them into financial support without you having to trouble yourself with those details.

Please give thought to what you can do for the Society’s support!
